The Color Run!

I just realized that this post wad in the draft folder just waiting  to be published. 

Even though it was almost a month ago, here it is.

My family completed our very first 5K!

I was kinda skeptical about it because I hate running. Hate it.

I also am not in shape or athletic by any means. Both my oldest brother and sister-in-law are very fit and both workout often. (Holly's even a personal trainer!) and well, Addy (younger bro) is just Addy. No explanation there. 

I was nervous and was looking for any reason to get out of it. 

Nevertheless, we did it anyway and I'm so glad I did!

The Color Me Rad run was actually a blast!

Although it sounds torturous, (you know, running 5k whilst getting blasted with dye (both wet and dry cornstarch)), it was awesome. 

And even though I walked/ran/walked/ran, I was still just happy I did it. 

By the way, my q-tips were blue for a week, every time I blew my nose, it was purple and the shower seems to be permanently green. 

All in good fun!

Completing a 5k was never on my bucket list, but I can now add it just to cross it off. ;)

come on, you know you do that too!

Thank you for being the rock in our family. Thank you for stepping in where we are lacking. Thank you for loving me and truly caring for me and my needs. Thank you for loving our family and wanting to spend time with us. Thank you for your genuine kindness.

To Holly:

 Thank you for loving my brother and for showing him what true love is.

Thank you for being my sister I never had, and for trying your hardest to understand our family's humor.

Thank you for being around when times got tough and thank you for caring for our family like it's your own.

To Mom: 

 Thank you for continually forgiving me for my mistakes and for loving me regardless. Thank you for teaching me to grow in my faith and to look to God for all my needs. Thank you for always being there for us and for always sacrificing your needs for ours. Thank you for teaching me the value of travel and for showing us that memories matter more than material things. Most importantly, thank you for showing me how to love and be loved unconditionally.

Our Trip to the Arboretum

While my Grandparents were here for spring break, we ventured out to the Dallas Arboretum.

My youngest brother missed out on the fun because of work...boo!

Even though it's only about a 30 minute drive from where I live, we hadn't gone in over 8 years!

The weather was perfect and it wasn't too crowded.

It was perfect!

Apparently walking around burns quite a lot of energy! We refueled for lunch at the Tea Room on site.

It was so quaint and cute!

After lunch, we walked around a bit more and stumbled across this little garden. It reminded me of the ones I saw in France at all the castles!

Sunset on the lake!

So, if you read yesterday's post, then you are already aware of how my family spent friday evening.

We picked up a family pack of BBQ (from our favorite place: Dickeys) and headed out on the 5 minute drive to our local lake. Lake Grapevine to be exact.

We plopped down on a picnic table and passed around the goods family style.

It was so so good.

and the view was even better.

We all laughed too hard, ate too much and smiled till our mouths hurt!

We even did our own version of the 'Harlem Shake!'

I love my family.

but more importantly, I love being with my family.

They make me laugh. They care. 

We truly love one another.

I cherish every moment we can all spend together.

Life is too short not to.

Looking at this sunset, I was so thankful and humbled at God's glory.

I kept thinking 

"Man, I am so blessed."

Those Texas sunsets, cotton candy clouds, and fun family moments can really put things into perspective.
