Currently Obsessed

So I've been a bad blogger, but I wanted to share a few things I've currently been obsessed with, sound good?

1. This EOS Holiday Three-Pack
I already love these lip balms and when I ran into Ulta for something and saw them, I bought them on a whim. The flavors are so amazing, probably my favorites out of all of the ones I already owned.

Flavors include:
  • Aloha Hawaii Strawberry Kiwi
  • St Barth's Sunrise Pink Grapefruit
  • Indian Summer Orange Blossom

If you have an addiction to lip balm like I do, you need these!

2. Netflix.

I used to have it a long time ago, but canceled. Now I have it again and I can't stop watching. Right now I've been loving Orange is the New Black I know, apparently I was out of the loop and have been missing out! It's pretty raunchy, but I love the character development and getting to see the story lines/stories for each character. Why does season 3 not come out until June?!?!

I've also been obsessed with re-watching Gilmore girls! I used to love that show when I was younger, and it's so fun being able to go back and re-watch it! I'm on season four now :)

3. Sour gummy... anything!

For some reason, I've been on a sour gummy kick. It started this past summer when I tried some of these Trolli Octopus. Sure they look creepy (kinda like spiders!) but OH MY GOSH THEY TASTE SO GOOD. They're definitely different from the regular sour worms. Trust me if you haven't, you need to try them! I've only been able to find them in certain places, Hobby Lobby being my biggest (and most random) dealer ;)

But seriously. They are addicting and so so good!

4. Red lip and winged eyeliner

I've been inspired by the makeup Taylor wore in her Shake It Off video. While I look nowhere near as gorgeous, I've still been enjoying that makeup look! It's classy and elegant, and surprisingly easy and fast to do.

5. Turning 21!!!

Can I put this on my list? Haha, well I am!
Monday, I turned 21. Yeah, it sucked having such a moments birthday on a Monday, especially since I had to work. Boo being an adult! But I had a great day nonetheless. :D

Hope you enjoyed my list!

Fall Essentials

So, I'm about to go all stereotypical white girl on you and share some of my favorites for fall!
Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I love the cooler weather, the foods and drinks, the outfits and most importantly, it's my birthday season!

I've saved my favorite beauty products for another post, so this is just a random collection of my fall inspired loves (except the nail polish I forgot to include in the other pics, so I threw it in here!)

1// Burnt red polish-perfect for this time of year
2// 'Leaves' candle from Bath and Body Works (an all time fav for me)
3// Sweet cinnamon pumpkin candle-yum!
4//Werther's carmel apple candies (oh so addicting!)
5//Sparkly ceramic pumpkins from the Dollar Tree
6// Orange and leopard Fossil wallet I found at Goodwill for $5!

Not pictured:
Pumpkin muffins from Target -if you haven't tried these RUN DON'T WALK!
Carmel apple cider- Starbucks or my at home Keurig version
my favorite brown boots- a staple for this time of year!
scarves! enough said.

What are some of your fall favorites?

The ABC's of Book Lovers!

I thought I'd do this fun quiz...The ABC's for books!

Author you read the most books from: Probably Nicholas Sparks. I am not a fan of every single novel (The Best Of Me being one I don't really prefer) but I'm pretty sure I've read all his books besides two: The Choice and his most recent one.

Best Sequel ever: I really loved If You Leave, which was the sequel to If You Stay. I liked the main guy character a lot, and it was just as cheesy and cute as the first one. (Beware, I did NOT like the third book the the series).

Currently Reading: With school and work right now, I haven't had a chance to pick up another book. But I just finished reading Nash and LOVED it. It was really
relatable to my life, so I enjoyed it! (Note: Nash is the fourth book in the Marked Men series)

Drink of choice while reading: I don't really drink anything while reading...to much multitasking. But I love coffee, tea and hot chocolate!

E-reader or Physical book: Both! For books that I really love, I want a physical copy of, but generally, I look and see which is cheaper (amazon or nook) and then buy based off that!

Fictional character you would have actually dated in high school:  Surprise, surprise. Augustus Waters. SWOON! He can tell me "okay" any day, any time.

Glad you gave this book a chance: 50 Shades. I know, I know. But I was curious and read it. Sue me. The first book was not my thing at all and I almost stopped reading it several times...but I kept with it and stuck it out until the end. I don't know why, but when I got to the second book, I enjoyed it more. I was able to get past all that kinky crap and see a pretty cute love story.

Hidden gem book: When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. I feel like I haven't really heard of anybody talk about this book. It's fantastic. It's one of those where you really only understand it until the very end and when you do, it's like MIND.BLOWN. It's a children's book I believe, so it's a quick and easy read.

Important moment in your reading life: I was in 5th grade and we were doing book reports. My friend was telling me about the book she had read, which was about a time in the past where people were sent to camps and murdered just because of their religion. I didn't believe her and went to the library to check out the book she had read. I read The Diary of Anne Frank that evening and finished it by the next day.

Just finished: oops, I already answered this one! It's Nash by Jay Crownover.

Kinds of books you won't read: I'm not a big information book reader. Like it's torture for me to read my school textbooks.

Longest book you've read: I honestly have no clue! Oh, maybe The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer.

Major book hangover because of: The end of TFIOS. Enough said.

Number of bookcases you own: I technically only have one bookcase, but I store my books all over my room. It's a collection problem.

One book you've read multiple times: Time Travelers Wife. One of my favorite books and I like to read it during the winter. I don't know if you consider this a book or not...but I also read The Tell Tale Heart every halloween!

Preferred place to read: In bed, in my cozy chair, on the floor, in the library on campus. Riding the bus to school...etc.
 Basically anywhere I have time.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you've read:   Ok, so I have narrowed it down to a few of my favorites:

“Time is priceless, but it’s free. You can't own it, you can use it. You can spend it. But you can't keep it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back.”
― Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler's Wife

-TFIOS, John Green

“We accept the love we think we deserve."

― Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
― Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry, The Little Prince

Reading regret: I sorta regret reading The Divergent Series. I did a whole post on them, but basically I wish I had only read the first one and skipped the other two.

Series you started and need to finish (all books are out in series): I need to finish the Maddox Brothers Series. I read the sample to Beautiful Wedding and it kinda made me mad, so I
didn't buy it. But I wanna finish the series, so I will eventually.

Three of your all time favorite books: Man, this is difficult.
I narrowed it down to The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery;  The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green;  and 1984 by George Orwell.

Unapologetic fan-girl for:  If you've read this far, you know...The Fault in Our Stars.  (More like an overall John Green fan. I am a nerdfighter, no doubt about it.)

Very excited for this release more than all the others: I'm excited for Rowdy by Jay Crownover to come out this October but other than that I can't think of any I'm waiting to release.

Worst bookish habit: When I get curious and/or bored in a book, I skip to the end and read the last page. I hate that I do that because I kicked myself in the foot several times and ruin some serious plot twists for myself. Side note: reason #125 why I love John Green. His first sentence in the back of the book in the authors note is typically along the lines of this : "If you are reading ahead to figure out what happens STOP IT YOU SNEAKY LITTLE SNEAKSTER! Go back to your chapter."

Yep. He gets me.

X marks the spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book: Redeeming Love,  by Francine Rivers

Your latest book purchase: I just got Devils Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three by Mara Leverett for $0.50 at a yard sale! Can't wait to read it!

ZZZ snatcher book (the book that kept you up WAY late): I'm pretty sure every book I read I end up staying up too late. I just have to figure it out!

Thanks The Lovely One for letting me steal this!

2014 Liebster Awards

I cannot believe it's already time for another round of the Liebster awards! I was nominated this year by the sweet Emily from her blog The Country Bluebird!

In case you don't know here are the rules:

-Each person must post 11 things about themselves, by answering the questions that the nominator has set for you

-Create 11 questions for the bloggers you nominate to answer

-Choose bloggers, with less than 200 followers, and link them in your post.

-Go to their blog and leave them a comment to let them know!

-No tag backs

Here's the questions I got:

1. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
It's a running joke in my family that everyone, including me, hates my name. (Amber is TOTALLY a stripper name). In fact, my nana only calls me by nickname (typically AC).
With that being said, I so wish my first name was my middle name, Caroline. I adore the name and even more so because it was my great grandmothers.

2. What do you do when you need to clear your head?
As stupid as it sounds, I either go window shopping, read a book, or read blogs. Also, showers are great for me to work through things and to clear my head. Call me weird, I know!

3. What book is the most meaningful to you, and why?
This one's a toughie! Well, most recently, The Fault in our Stars. I kinda dislike how popular it's become (although, not shocked...it's really good!) because I just kinda want it to be mine only. I know how crazy that sounds, but that book is seriously a treasure and the idea that there are other people out there who can't see the beauty in it or only like/dislike it because of the movie, makes my chest hurt. I can't say enough great things about it.

4. Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world?
This one's obvious. France, duh. Actually can I just say Europe in general? I'm dying to see Greece, Spain, Germany and Amsterdam (for reasons unrelated to TFIOS...mainly to see Anne Frank's house. I've had a secret obsession with her since like 2nd grade. Wow, we are way off topic here... ending the parenthesis now).

5. What about blogging keeps you motivated?
For me, it's a fantastic way to be able to look back on my life and the different stages of life I was in. I love being able to look back on what I was doing/feeling/wearing two years ago, so that motivates me to keep up with it for future reference. I'm totally selfish, I know.

6. Apple or Android? Which do you prefer?
I'm an apple girl. It's what I know and I would be a traitor otherwise since my oldest brother works for Apple.

7. If you had to choose a favorite musician, who would it be?
Again, if you know me, you'd think my initial answer would be Taylor Swift, which is very true! But more recently, I've been jamming to Ed Sheeran a lot. I love his lyrics and his soulful voice. Right now, the song I'm listening to most by him is this one. So beautiful!

8. Country life or city life?
I'm a city girl by heart, but that doesn't mean I don't like escaping to the country every once in a while. Luckily some of my extended family live in the country so it's nice to visit them, but also reeeeeally nice to get back to the big town.

9. What book character do you relate to the most?
I just finished a book called Nash and I kept thinking that I was struggling with a lot of the same things the main character, Saint, was dealing with. She had a lot of the same insecurities as I do and it gave me hope that one day I can overcome them!

10. What motivates you to get out of bed and get going?
I wouldn't say that anything necessarily motivates me, but really just a lot of obligations I have require me to actually get out of my bed. Ha! But really, I know that I want good grades, so even though I'm getting up at 6:30 everyday, I know it's worth it. Same on days when I'm working...
money > sleep
Strange concept, huh?

11. Would you rather have dessert or entree?
Dessert ALL THE WAY. In fact, there are days where I don't even eat dinner, I just skip to dessert. Bad, Amber. Bad.

Okay, so here are my nominees:

and here are all of your questions!

1. What is one of your funniest childhood memories?

2. If you could pick one season (Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter) to live in for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

3. What is one of your holy-grail beauty products?

4. What are your top 2 favorite movies and why?

5. What book(s) do you like to reread over and over again? If you don't do that (maybe I'm the only crazy one who does) what is your all time favorite book?

6. Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate or neither?

7. Where do you go/what do you do when you're having a bad day?

8. Who/what has made the biggest impact on your life?

9. If you have five minutes to talk to whoever you wanted (dead or alive or from the future) who would it be and what would you say?

10. Tell me about a time when you failed.
(No this isn't a job interview, I'm just curious!)

11. Name a song that you currently have on repeat!

Can't wait to hear your answers!

Longest Yard Sale Finds

My grandparents live right off highway 157 which holds the world's longest yard sale every year (first week in August).
I've been going for about three years now and enjoy it so much! I am an avid yard sale-r...well actually my entire family is, so we all really have so much fun going!

Over the years we've learned little secrets...like where the best spots are and how to spot antique dealers vs real yard sales.

This year I didn't walk away with too many things, but I figured I'd share my biggest find.

An elder woman had a small tent on the side of the road and we pulled over to check her sale out.

I glanced around and didn't see anything, so I began walking back to my car.

My mom called me to come over to look into a box.
I asked her what it was and she just told me to come and see.

I'm so glad I did!

These little (ok, big!) gems were inside.
That blue...I die.
Seriously. I about fell over when I saw these vintage blue mason jars!
I dreaded asking her how much they were because I had seen plenty at other sales for over $8 each!!!

She told me $20 for all and winked at me.

SERIOUSLY!
--2--0--
for 17 jars.
I'm pretty sure I jumped for joy then ran to the car to hide my finds from the rest of the world so they couldn't get their hands on them before I did.

Yep. I still can't believe I got all these for $20.
I'm planning on selling a few and keeping some for me :)

I also got a few books (shocking), a brand new Kate Spade phone case for $3 and a few clothing items to sell.

Can't wait for the Longest Yard Sale 2015!

Summer Reading: Mini Reviews

This summer I've pretty much had my nose stuck in a book non-stop.
(Ok, so maybe this is a regular occurrence... not just this summer)
I wanted to get a lot of reading in before I start school in the fall because I knew I wouldn't have as much time to with schoolwork and required reading.
I figured today I'd share what I've read this summer and post little mini reviews on each book!

Note: I'm not reviewing these in any order at all, it's purely random ;)
Synopsis are taken from Amazon

When You Reach Me

Synopsis:
"By sixth grade, Miranda and her best friend, Sal, know how to navigate their New York City neighborhood. They know where it's safe to go, and they know who to avoid. Like the crazy guy on the corner.

But things start to unravel. Sal gets punched by a kid on the street for what seems like no reason, and he shuts Miranda out of his life. The apartment key that Miranda's mom keeps hidden for emergencies is stolen. And then a mysterious note arrives, scrawled on a tiny slip of paper. The notes keep coming, and Miranda slowly realizes that whoever is leaving them knows things no one should know. Each message brings her closer to believing that only she can prevent a tragic death. Until the final note makes her think she's too late."

This is a book that I couldn't put down until I finished because I just had to figure it out. And once you do, it's like mind-blown and I did NOT see the twist coming.
This book is genius, I tell you. Pure Genius. I'm pretty sure it's actually a children's chapter book so I finished it rather quickly. Do yourself a favor and read this book. You won't be disappointed.

The Marked Men Series
 (read in picture order)

Synopsis for Rule:
"Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn’t want--and the only person she’s never tried to please. She isn’t afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won’t listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother’s girl. She lives by other people’s rules; he makes his own. He doesn’t have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she’s the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other"

I'd recommend this series for anyone who loves a good love story. They're hot and sexy but also pretty darn romantic and I like really Jay's style of writing. These are easy reads that require no thought. Rule (#1 in the series) is by far my favorite out of the three I've read (there are 4 out now, and two more coming soon) with Rome being my second fav. I've added the fourth Nash onto my continuously-growing 'To Read' list.

Fahrenheit 451

Synopsis:
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden.

"Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television “family.” But then he meets an eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a past where people didn’t live in fear and to a present where one sees the world through the ideas in books instead of the mindless chatter of television.

When Mildred attempts suicide and Clarisse suddenly disappears, Montag begins to question everything he has ever known. He starts hiding books in his home, and when his pilfering is discovered, the fireman has to run for his life."

I never had to read this in school, but I've been told I really need to read it. They were right, it is a fantastic book. I actually added this to my top 5 favorite books of all time I liked it so much...haha!
There's not much to say, except that if you've never read this book before...READ IT!
I absolutely love Ray Bradbury and his writing style and I loved the little note he wrote at the end of the book.
This is a classic book that I think everyone should read at some point in their lives!

Beautiful Disaster/Walking Disaster

Synopsis for Beautiful Disaster:
"The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match."

I just finished this series and liked it. It had some major plot holes for me that I felt weren't cleared up which kinda bothered me. But it's a cute romance love story and the characters will stay with me, nonetheless.
Once again, these are easy reads that require no thought but still are entertaining. Walking Disaster got a bit redundant at times because it is just retelling the story from the guy's point of view, but I still enjoyed peeking into his brain and feelings during the story.
I'm hopefully going to finish the rest of the series (Beautiful Wedding and Beautiful Oblivion) soon!

Looking For Alaska

Synopsis:
"Before. Miles “Pudge” Halter is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more (Francois Rabelais, poet). He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . .

After. Nothing is ever the same."

You know my summer wouldn't be complete without a little John Green, would it?
Once again, I've fallen in love with another one of his novels. It's brilliant and witty and funny and heartbreaking. I love this one for its own reasons, but it's my third favorite out of the three John Green novels I've read. (TFIOS, Paper Towns and LOA)
Oh, and if you've read it and wondering my opinion about "IT" (if you've read it you'll know what I'm talking about)  I feel though it wasn't planned, but still a spur-of-the-moment choice.
Let me know what your thoughts are...I ask everyone who has read it because I love hearing the different opinions on it.

Beautifully Broken Series
(read in picture order)

Synopsis for If You Stay:
"Twenty-four-year-old Pax Tate is an asshole. Seriously. He's a tattooed, rock-hard bad boy with a tough attitude to match. His mother died when Pax was seven, leaving a hole in his heart filled with an intense guilt that he doesn't understand. What he does know is that he and his dad were left alone, and they have never been close. Now, he uses drugs and women to cope with the black void in his soul. He pretends that the emptiness isn't there and this has always worked . . . until he meets Mila.

Sweet, beautiful Mila Hill is the fresh air that Pax has never known in his life. He doesn't know how to not hurt her-but he quickly realizes that he'd better figure it out because he needs her to breathe. When the memories of his mother's death resurface to haunt Pax, Mila is there to save him from his overwhelming guilt. Mila restores his broken heart, even as she evokes his powerful, sexual desires. Now for Pax to keep Mila, he needs to work on his issues-and stop being an asshole. But is that enough to make her stay?"

This series is also a good, cheesy romance with excellent no-brainer love stories. I'd recommend these if you need a good, easy read!
I loved If You Stay and fell in more love with the second book, If You Leave. I'm pretty sure I need a Gabe in my life ;)
Then I read the sample of Before We Fall and decided that that relationship was too broken for me...haha. It was just a little too raunchy for me, but my friend who read it filled me in on what I missed so I skipped to Until We Fly. I liked the first two the most and enjoyed the fourth. I'm kinda curious now about the third so I will probably just end up finishing it anyway. ;)

Flat Out Love

Synopsis:
"He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy.
So, that was Matt.  Who Julie Seagle likes. A lot.  But there is also Finn.  Who she flat out loves.
Complicated? Awkward?  Completely.
But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother's? This was all supposed to be temporary.  Julie wasn't supposed to be important to the Watkins family, or to fall in love with one of the brothers.  Especially the one she's never quite met. But what does that really matter?  Finn gets her, like no one ever has before. They have connection.
But here's the thing about love, in all its twisty, bumpy permutations—it always throws you a few curves.  And no one ever escapes unscathed."

I loved this! It was a nice light read that had me guessing the entire way though. Another book that I couldn't put it down because I just had to figure out. It has a twist...which I kinda saw coming, but it was still awesome either way. It's a good, heart-warming read that had me laughing and wiping a few tears here and there.
I just found out there are two other novels in the series: Flat Out Celeste and Flat Out Matt, which I am totally adding onto my list.

What books have you been reading this summer? Any I should add onto my list?

Swizzle Wisdom

I mean, you should know this by now, but I am a HUGE Taylor Swift fan. But when I read this, I fell in more and more love. In short, (I seriously could name 1000 things) she's just an amazing role model who is seemingly full of wisdom. When I met her a few years ago, I could sense that she's a good soul. I have no doubt in my mind now...

I just recently read this article and just had to share! If you don't want to click on that...I'll summarize it for you.

A fan of TS asked her a question on Instagram:

"@taylorswift can you give me some advice maybe. I love you," a young love-struck girl named Hannah wrote in regards to a guy who she said "will never like me back." Cue T.Swift's sage wisdom!
To which she replied:
"Hannah. Eyes, eyes, eyes. Woah. You have the prettiest, widest, most child like eyes. (Composes herself)," Swift commented. "Okay. About this guy. I think we grow up thinking the only love that counts as true love is the kind that lasts forever or is fully realized. When you have a broken heart, the first thing a stranger will ask is ‘how long were you two together?' As if your pain can be determined by how long you were with someone. Or if you were with them at all. I don't think that's how it works. I think unrequited love is just as valid as any other kind. It's just as crushing and just as thrilling."
"No matter what happens in this situation, I want you to remember that what you are doing is selfless and beautiful and kind," she added. "You are loving someone purely because you love them, not because you think you'll ever have your affections reciprocated. You are admiring something for its beauty, without needing to own it. Feel good about being the kind of person who loves selflessly. I think someday you'll find someone who loves you in that exact same way."

I just love her.

Hey, How's It Going?!?

Long time...no talk, eh!?!?! I'm back home in the great state of Texas after a month's long journey that was so much fun I am in a bit of a shock having to go back to real life. For example: I have to be at work at 7:45 tomorrow morning and I'm already dragging my feet about it! But the good news is for all you readers is that now that I have all this free time (ha!) I will finally get back to my blog schedule!  As a place holder, I leave you with this video...trust me, it's a must see.

Currently

I saw a few bloggers (I stole this one directly from The Lovely One) do this and I figured I'd do one too!

Reading: Right now, I'm reading Fahrenheit 451. I started it a few weeks ago and between the beach trip and camping, I didn't get a chance to finish it. I'm back to it now!

Watching: Well, last night my cousins and I watched Horrible Bosses together. Let me tell you, that's a hilarious movie!

Listening to: I'm currently addicted to Ed Sheeran! Right now I'm obsessed with Little Bird and Kiss Me. And no, I haven't got his new CD yet...I'm dying, though!

Writing: Believe it or not, I've got two blog posts I'm working on besides this one! Both are a lot of writing and are actually pretty long stories, so we will see...

Playing: An app called Covet Fashion. Oh my word, guys have you played this before?! It's like dress up dolls for adults!!

Eating:  I just had an everything bagel with whipped cream cheese...mmmmm

Drinking: Well, I just had a small glass of OJ.

Wearing: My Ron Jon's tee and PJ shorts...hey, it's summer vacation!

Waiting: hmmm, I don't know that I'm necessarily waiting for anything. Oh! Wait! I am waiting for a few events to end on my Covet game. Hahaha!

Loving:  Being around family. We always have a blast when we are together.

Needing:  The new Ed Sheeran CD ;)

Wanting: Can I say the new Ed Sheeran CD? haha, just kidding. Right now, I'm wanting a big fat Bahama Bucks sno-cone. It's an addiction, really.

Thinking: Man, I have to go back to work in a few weeks. BOO!

Feeling: A bit cranky. I have no reason at all for it. But, nevertheless, I'm cranky. Maybe because I know I have to go back to work soon.

Hoping: that we have a fantastic holiday weekend! Family is coming into town and I'm very excited!

Dreaming: of a few weeks ago when I was on the beach reading with my best friend.

Being Inspired By:  My aunt! She amazes me. For instance, the other day she was angry and instead of hiding it (like I would) she let the person know that she was angry and then moved on. It inspired me to try and be the same way. I don't want ever want to be a prisoner to my emotions!

Book Reviews: The Immortal Life of Henreitta Lacks, The Giver, About a Boy, Paper Towns and The Trouble with Goodbye

Over the past month, I've read quite a few books! I figured, I go through them and give you my thoughts.

I picked this up without any idea that there was a currently running TV show based off of it. It was funny and clever, but also kinda depressing at times. I hated the ending though, very disappointing. I actually like the TV show better.

This is one of those books that really makes you think. I almost didn't read it because I kept thinking how boring a book about cells would be, but I was wrong. I couldn't put it down. It's opened my eyes to the world of science and made me really question "What really does belong to us?" Weird, I know, but once you read it you will too!

It may be shocking, but I had never read this book before! I don't know why, but our schools never required it (we read Number the Stars instead). I figured I'd go ahead and read it since the movie is coming out soon (My girl T-swizzle is in it, holla!) Guys, it's good. Like, I can't believe I've never read it before now, good. It's brilliant and thought provoking and I just want to make every middle-schooler read it! It's a pretty quick, easy read so definitely check it out.

You know I had to at least mention my man, John. All of his books are just so brilliantly magnificent that I just want to, like, steal his mastermind of a brain. The dialogue, the characters, the imagery, the metaphors, everything is great in this book (as usual). I'll admit though, that I began reading this in October and read about 1/3 of it and put it down. I just now picked back up where I left off and didn't put it down until I finished it. It's both hilarious and heartbreaking (not as bad as TFIOS, I shed no tears, don't worry) in a way that only John Green could pull off, but it's just freaking amazing. I don't really agree with classifying it as a YA book (same with TFIOS) because the depth of it is so beyond anything I think that genre could ever fill. Just read it. In fact, if you've never read any John Green books before, I recommend starting with this one!

and finally,
This was an extremely fast and short read. It was okay. It's kinda one of those books that requires no thought so I flew through it. Nothing spectacular, just a cute, cheesy love story! Plus it's free on my Nook, so that's a plus. I'm not sure if I will continue with the series or not.

What are you currently reading?

What I'm Jammin' To Currently

So you guys. I am obsessed with TFIOS (you should now this by know) so of course I had to buy the movie soundtrack. And every since then, I've been listening to it nonstop. So today I figured I'd highlight some of my favorite songs on the album. (because I am obsessed and a total nerd)

The one that's always stuck in my head is this one:

I listen to it on repeat and have a full on dance party for 1 in my room. I can totally tell this will be this year's summer anthem. Like I said, it's always in my head, like it is currently.....and it goes on and on and on and on and....

This one is probably my favorite one on the album:

I won't lie and say that it doesn't bring tears to my eyes almost every time I hear it. I also get goosebumps and I'm basically just a giant cheeseball of emotions every time I listen to it. Ed just gets me.

and this one I'm pretty sure everyone who rids in my car is sick of because I literally (misuse of literality, I know) play it over and over again:

gimme gimme that love I've been fightin' for, yeah!

This one I just love to pretend like I can actually sing to:

Just so you know, I can't sing. Like at all. But this song is awesome, nevertheless.

and because I just love John Green's sense of humor, I also jam like gangsta to this one:

Yes. This is swedish hip hop.
Just imagine my friend and I (both white girls, mind you) turn the bass up real high, windows down, drivin' around town pretending like we're wearing flat bills backwards, dropping a sideways peace sign, nodding our heads back and forth.

I could go on, but you should just buy the album and enjoy all of its awesomeness for yourself.

ps. Aunt Denise, if you're reading this (you might be the only one reading this) JUST READ IT ALREADY!! :D
