First Stop on My Room Tour: The Bathroom

This may be really weird but I have to say, I love my bathroom. The colors just make me happy.
Too weird?
Ok.

Anyways, today I am showing you my bathroom.
This is the first stop on my room tour. Coming soon is my closet, jewelry storage, and last but not least, my bedroom.

Without further ado, Welcome to my Bathroom:
Pardon the yellow light, there is no natural light in my bathroom.

I am a very lucky girl in that for the first time, I don't have to share a bathroom with my brothers. This is quite a luxury because as I'm sure you can guess, boys are messy and yucky. I am also lucky that it is right off my bedroom, which is really nice.
Here is what you see when you walk in through my bedroom:
My style is what I like to call electic. I like shabby chic, but I wanted my bathroom to have brighter colors.
I don't like to obsess about everything being overly matchy-matchy.
It's just not me. I like color and I don't really care if they are all the same shade or not.
You'll notice this a lot throughout my tours.

The thing that grabs your eye first is the shower curtain.
I had been lusting after this one from anthropologie for quite some time. So imagine my surprise when I found this one at TJmaxx for $19.99. This was my inspiration for the entire space.

It's quite possibly my most favorite thing ever.

Above is my linen closet

and also where I stash my beauty cart
That door you see leads to my closet, which you will see soon.

Do a complete 180* and this is what you see:

I live in an apartment with my mom, and it came with the granite and modern fixtures. Totally not complaining at all, I mean I have granite for goodness sakes, but modern is not completely my thing.
It is what it is and I try and make it work.

towel hook from pier one for $5

 my perfume collection

Jars from Goodwill to hold the necessities.

Apothecary jar came from a garage sale for $1 and I filled it with coordinating loofahs.
Little cork jars are Martha Stewart that I got on clearance for $2 that hold my hair ties and bobby pins.

Next to my sink is my loo.
yes, I just said loo.
The branch above was from Goodwill and the Stained Glass piece was from Garden ridge years ago.

See what I mean about not being matchy-matchy?
These yellow towels don't really match the pale yellow on my shower curtain, but I like them, so here they are.
They came from Neiman Marcus (my mom works there and she got them at a sample sale for $5 each.)

and the last little detail:
my super soft rug from tjmaxx.
It sheds those little cotton strands like crazy, so I might need to replace it sometime in the future.

That's my bathroom!
Stay tuned for my closet tour...

Everyday Bathroom Storage

I'm a girl in every sense of the word.
I like clothes.
I like makeup.
I like hair.

After years and years of trying to hide that simple fact, I've finally become okay with it.
I've accepted that that's who I am.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to hop on a 4-wheeler and roll around in some mud every once and a blue moon, but I'd do it with style.

Oh, and to be clear,  I DO NOT like pink.
yuck. ew.

So anyway, the moral of this backstory is that I seem to "collect" a lot of "girl stuff"
and all that stuff seems to find it's way all over my bathroom counter.
As I'm sure you can imagine, this didn't sit well with me.
I had to come up with a solution.
had to.
(I'm also a problem solver)

So that's just what I did.

Enter Ikea:

and this Turquoise Cart.
I loooooved the color, and it solved my bathroom problem perfectly.
Now, I should also say that I am a starving college student,
so when I saw the price tag, I walked away.
Little did I know, my fabulous mother had already added it to her cart.
Great minds, right?

Here is what I did with it:

I corralled all my "stuff" and organized it by tray:

Makeup goes on top

I got this clear organizer at a thrift shop years ago.
I love it!

{I put all my brushes in mason jars to keep them together}

hair brushes/tools and more products in the middle

misc on bottom.
This holds chargers and my large mirror
(for lookin' at the back of yo head,
 'cause you know, it's ridiculous)
 ^click it.
do it, I dare you.

annnnnd....where were we?
oh yeah.

so here she is all filled up!
The size of this is amazing, by the way.
It's large in that it holds so much
but it's small in that it fits in compact spaces.

I placed it in front of my linen closet (which I never use) and wheel it by my sink when I need it.
It's perfect!

well, except the instructions on how to put it together.
That was a nightmare.
Which reminded me of this pin:

Dear Ikea, write better instructions!!!
