What I'm Jammin' To Currently

So you guys. I am obsessed with TFIOS (you should now this by know) so of course I had to buy the movie soundtrack. And every since then, I've been listening to it nonstop. So today I figured I'd highlight some of my favorite songs on the album. (because I am obsessed and a total nerd)

The one that's always stuck in my head is this one:

I listen to it on repeat and have a full on dance party for 1 in my room. I can totally tell this will be this year's summer anthem. Like I said, it's always in my head, like it is currently.....and it goes on and on and on and on and....

This one is probably my favorite one on the album:

I won't lie and say that it doesn't bring tears to my eyes almost every time I hear it. I also get goosebumps and I'm basically just a giant cheeseball of emotions every time I listen to it. Ed just gets me.

and this one I'm pretty sure everyone who rids in my car is sick of because I literally (misuse of literality, I know) play it over and over again:

gimme gimme that love I've been fightin' for, yeah!

This one I just love to pretend like I can actually sing to:

Just so you know, I can't sing. Like at all. But this song is awesome, nevertheless.

and because I just love John Green's sense of humor, I also jam like gangsta to this one:

Yes. This is swedish hip hop.
Just imagine my friend and I (both white girls, mind you) turn the bass up real high, windows down, drivin' around town pretending like we're wearing flat bills backwards, dropping a sideways peace sign, nodding our heads back and forth.

I could go on, but you should just buy the album and enjoy all of its awesomeness for yourself.

ps. Aunt Denise, if you're reading this (you might be the only one reading this) JUST READ IT ALREADY!! :D

Swoon Worthy

I had quite a fun evening yesterday exploring the new 'explore pins' option on pinterest. Anyway, I was searching through the Coldplay section and had a ball just pinning the lyrics to some of my favorite songs. One of my favorites from Coldplay is the song "Fix You."

(This is another long story but for me this song is singing about God's love, not necessarily just a love song between a couple if that makes sense) It's such a beautiful song and if you haven't heard it, I would definitely check it out.
But then when I stumbled across this pin, I fell more in love with it:

This is what my aunt would call "swoon worthy!" Isn't that just the sweetest?! Well, it would be if you've heard the song cause then we would all say in unison "AWWW!!"

Anyway, happy Tuesday!

But if you close your eyes...

Do you ever have a song that just resonates deep within your soul...the kind where you feel as if the words are speaking directly to you?
That's how I feel about this song. (Pompeii by Bastille. In fact, I am loving all Bastille's music!)
I'm sure you've probably heard it by now, it seems to be quite popular.

I just love the words to this song but it's also one of those songs that I jump up and dance my heart out to.  I am actually rationing listening to it because I always 'over-listen' to my favorite songs and then they kind of lose their magic. Do you know what I mean? Please say yes. ;)

I've copied the lyrics below and also the music video. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out!

I was left to my own devices
Many days fell away with nothing to show

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Grey clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You've been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

We were caught up and lost in all of our vices
In your pose as the dust settled around us

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Grey clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You've been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?
Oh oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Grey clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You've been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

If you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all?

Lyric Love, 31 Days of LOVE

I recently started a new board on my pinterest, Just so Lyrical because every once and a while I'll stumble across a pin of some of my favorite song lyrics. Somehow this collection of lyrics just makes me happy.
I thought I'd share a few with you.

Some are spunky and upbeat, while some are dark and twisted. I can't be the only one who's music changes with my mood.

"Sleeping Sickness" City and Colour

"The Moment I Knew" Taylor Swift
(happens to be my fav song right now)

"Please Let Me Get What I Want This Time" The Smiths

"You and I" Ingrid Michaelson

"Sweet Disposition" The Temper Trap

"The Scientist" Coldplay
Side note: One of my favorite songs AND I loved it before Glee ruined it.
Yep, I said it.

"Take a Walk" Passion Pit

"The Girl" City and Colour

"Be Still" The Killers

"Fix You" Coldplay

"Sex on Fire" Kings of Leon
Yes, I'm a rebel and listen to music with suggestive lyrics. Sue me.

"Wouldn't it be Nice" Beach Boys

"There is a light that never goes out" The Smiths

"Somebody Told Me" The Killers

"All Too Well" Taylor Swift

Oh, I should stop... there are so many more, but I'm getting carried away!
What are some of your all time favorite songs?

Current Playlist

After reading one of my favorite blogs, Deaf Girl Musings, who posts her current music playlist every month, I got inspired and figured I should play copy cat and do the same.

So here is what I'm jammin' to while washing dishes or typing up an essay, and even blasting on my car's stereo.

*disclaimer* Some of the music videos may have bad language...sorry if that offends you!

1. well actually two songs by The Imagine Dragon's:
It's Time:

and 2. Radioactive:

3. Cher Lloyd's "Oath"
This song literally makes me get up and dance and sing into the mirror every time I hear it.

4. Passion Pit. This is arguably my favorite band. I love Sleepyhead and Little Secrets. Oh and Take a walk. :) But right now, I'm obsessed with Carried Away:

5. Oh, this song gives me goosebumps. Hunter Hayes, Wanted:

6. This one does too! Jason Mraz, I won't give up:

and finally, the ultimate 'girl power' song: I Love It, by Icona Pop:

What are your favorite songs of the moment?

Tuesday's Tunes

Since music is a very important part of me, I thought I'd share with you a couple songs that have been stuck in my head these past couple days (and because today is tuesday and I like alliteration)

First, is Matt White: "Love"
This song makes me dance like crazy with my hairbrush in front of my bathroom mirror!

Next is Louie Armstrong's what a wonderful world. Such a great classic, it literally moves me to tears each time :)

This song takes me to my "happy place"
I love Norah Jones' sultry voice. It is so calming!

For some reason I have been into old jazz music, so of course I have to add some frank:P
The Way You Look Tonight- Frank Sinatra

And lastly, a song that always makes me smile, but also gets stuck in my head all.day.long.
Ingrid Michaelson- "Be Ok"

What kind of music has been in your head recently?
Happy May!
